Bottle and jar weight drives the board
A 30 ml dropper and a 200 ml jar do not need the same carton. Board grade and insert depth are set from the filled weight and the shape of the base, not from the category.
Industry
Colormix supplies folding cartons, rigid gift sets and mailers for skincare brands — 500 pcs per size, digital samples in 3–7 days, production-line samples in 7–10 days, bulk in 15–22 working days after approval. The structure is chosen per product weight, retail or e-commerce channel and order size, then produced against a signed sample.
Skincare packaging is judged at three moments: on the shelf or thumbnail, in the hand during unboxing, and on the shelf at home weeks later. Each moment asks for a different material decision, and a range usually needs more than one box type to cover all three. In practice that means a skincare gift box with a foam insert, a folding carton for single SKUs and a corrugated mailer for direct-to-consumer orders.
The same structure behaves differently across these three situations. They are the first we ask about.
Multi-piece routines sold as one set, where the box holds six to ten items without rattle.
Shelf cartons for creams and cleansers, printed from the same artwork as the gift set.
Mailers sized to the packed jar, so glass survives the courier and not only the shelf.
Three structures cover most briefs in this category. Each is quoted per size, from 500 pcs.
Gift-set construction on 1.5–2 mm greyboard with a foam or paperboard insert cut to the bottles.
300–350 gsm SBS with a straight tuck end — the everyday retail unit.
E-flute outer for direct-to-consumer despatch of a single jar or bottle.
Four constraints drive most of the decisions here. They are the first things we ask about.

A 30 ml dropper and a 200 ml jar do not need the same carton. Board grade and insert depth are set from the filled weight and the shape of the base, not from the category.
02
Retail cartons are made to sit on a shelf and be picked up. Direct-to-consumer orders need a mailer that protects the bottle in transit and opens cleanly at home. Many brands run both for the same SKU.
03
Skincare ranges usually share one print and finish across several SKUs. Printing all sizes in one run keeps the colour matched and avoids the drift that comes from separate small batches.
04
If a carton is sold as recyclable or plastic-free, the material and the insert have to support the claim. We specify the material and state what it is, so the claim can be checked.
Most brands in this category need three or four of these, not one. Each is quoted separately.
| Component | How it is built |
|---|---|
| Primary carton | Folding carton on 300–400 gsm board, straight tuck or crash-lock base, printed one or both sides. |
| Gift or launch set | Rigid or magnetic box with a die-cut insert holding two to six items, foil or emboss on the lid. |
| E-commerce mailer | Corrugated mailer with a pulp or corrugated fitment, sized to the packed product with corner clearance. |
| Sample and discovery kits | Drawer box or small rigid box with a multi-cavity tray for sachets, miniatures and cards. |
Three finishes do most of the work here. The full library, photographed as macros, sits on its own page.
Matte, velvety surface that hides fingerprints on a box handled in store.
The mark and border line on a dark or saturated wrap.
Gloss on one element only, without adding a second material.
Yes. We print the range together where quantities allow, and we confirm the colour on the physical sample before bulk. Matching across separate runs months apart is possible but needs the approved sample as the reference.
Yes. Paperboard platforms, molded pulp trays and EVA foam are all used for cosmetics. For a plastic-free pack, paperboard or pulp is the usual choice.
The artwork is adapted to each dieline, because the panel layout is different. We issue both dielines so the design is built once and placed correctly in each structure.
500 pcs per size. A range of four sizes is four dielines and four minimums.
